While at the hotel Heidi performed several times, sharing her music and making new friends and fans in the process. Sunday, July 4th,
"It was a blast, I had so much fun" Heidi said as she left Winchester Saturday evening after the days 4th of July Celebration ended with an array of spectacular fireworks that lit the Lykins Park sky. Heidi's performance was nothing less than spectacular too as several thousand gathered for an evening of celebrating freedom, honoring veterans, enjoying good food and music that ended with an awesome fireworks finale. Heidi was publicly aknowledged and recognized for her work in CSEPP and for her help with the "Know Your Zone" public affairs campaign. Heidi then took the stage and performed her "Know Your Zone" song brilliantly. A little later Heidi and her band took the stage again and unveiled for the first time several original country songs off her soon to be released country CD. The songs were well received and after Heidi's performance fans gathered at her table to buy CDs and have her posters autographed.
Sunday, July 18th,
"This is something I've dreamed about for a long time" was Heidi's comment as she boarded an SUV bound for Nashville in the wee hours of the morning on July 16th. Heidi was enroute for the 1st Round of Season 10 "American Idol" auditions that were being held in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Heidi arrived safely, found downtown lodging, secured her arm bracelet and paperwork and proceded to do what she does best, sing and play her guitar and make friends. No corner in downtown Nashville was safe from Heidi and her guitar. She drew crowds and made friends everywhere she stopped to play. Even the hotel's lobby and the balcony above the swimming pool became gathering places for Heidi's music. When Heidi wasn't singing she was visiting music clubs, listening to bands and shopping. On Saturday, the day of auditions, Heidi arrived at 5 am along with 16,000 others who had similar aspirations and dreams of stardom. Unfortunately the process of selection of a very few, when many thousands are bidding for a 30 second audition that could change their lives, is almost like playing the lottery. Heidi patiently waited for almost 14 hours to sing 30 seconds to the judges. Rumor by that time was that the judges were looking for "screamers". Although the judges praised Heidi's beautiful voice, her selection of "Lean on Me" didn't quite fill the bill to move her forward in the competion. A bit disappointed but thankful to be finally out of there, Heidi showed class, respect, humbleness and kindness throughout the competion. However, one of Heidi's new friends, a singer from California "Brian Dixon" that she had sang with on a downtown street corner the day before, did move on to the next round of competion. Heidi wishes the "Best of Luck and Success" to Brian"
Sunday, August 8th,
Heidi returned home today from her week long visit to Winchester. While in Winchester, Heidi assisted Winchester/Clark County Emergency Management/CSEPP with their booth at the Clark County Fair. Heidi acted as a spokesperson for CSEPP at the booth and during two concerts she peformed at the fair. As always Heidi's music was well received and many new friends and fans were made. Heidi was able to break away from the fair long enough to go flying, do a little boating, swimming and tubing at Lake Cumberland and debut a new anti "Litter Song" to environmental officials gathered at a meeting at the Lake Cumberland State Park Lodge. The song was well liked and plans were made to produce a public service music video with the song. Heidi continues to use her music unselfishly to entertain and enlighten hearts, souls and minds !
